Grow In Perseverance!

Hi mama! Today I’m sharing the third devotion in the Rescued By Faith Devotional Series: Grow in Perseverance.

In this devotion, we’re looking at God’s desire to mature us when we face trials and tribulations of many kinds.

If you’re experiencing a season of difficulty, please be encouraged today, mama, God loves you and He works all things together for your good.

Focus verse

“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ” James 1:4

Devotion

The Bible shows us that when we experience trials, the testing of our faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3) And so we have this assurance from God’s word than even when we experience troubles, God is working in our character by helping us become complete in faith, and lacking in nothing.

grow in perseverance

Indeed, God desires to give us His wisdom and understanding, so that in our suffering we become more like Him.

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but often it’s in my seasons of trouble that I most turn to God and that He most refines me. It hurts; I won’t lie. But that’s because there are things deep inside me that need to be broken in order for God’s life and light to come in.

So when you experience trials, mama, ask the Lord to give you wisdom and to help you grow in perseverance, so that you can be complete in Him.

Questions for reflection

  • Have you ever experienced a season of darkness that you realise in hindsight God used to refine you and bring you closer to Him?
  • What are you struggling with in the season you’re in now? Is there something you need to bring to God in prayer and surrender?
  • Are your children experiencing trials and tribulations? What can you teach them based on today’s devotion?

Prayer

Lord, thank You that in my trials, You want to bring me closer to You and You want to refine me too. Forgive me, Lord, for when I don’t have faith. Give me your wisdom so that I can grow in perseverance and maturity. I have faith, Lord, please help my unbelief! Amen.
