What’s On My Nightstand? Confessions of A Christan Mama
Hi friend! Today I’m sharing a what’s on my nightstand blog post, so you can get to know me a bit better. ๐ You can also read more about me here! When we read about what people have on their nightstands, we get a small glimpse into their routines, and sometimes even a perception of what’s important to them. That’s the case with what’s on my nightstand. So here goes! What’s on my nightstand? Ok, so I have a lamp, which is pretty standard, right? Then I have a notebook and a couple of pens. I use these to write down any tomorrow to-do lists that pop into my head…

7 Questions To Pray About In Relation To Social Media
I broke up with social media. Well…almost! I still share content on Pinterest and Youtube, but I’ve stopped using Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin (actually I never used it much anyway haha) and Twitter. There are 8 main reasons for this, but in this post I want to share two common misconceptions regarding leaving social media (SM), seven questions to ponder in prayer, and a short testimony. 2 Common Misconceptions About Not Using SM 1. Just because you’re not on social media platforms, does not mean you’re cutting yourself off from social connection As an author, blogger and podcaster, I want to keep connecting to readers and listeners. It’s just that instead of using social media,…

5 Reasons I Broke Up With Social Media
I did something crazy this week. I broke up with social media. And today I’ll share with you my five reasons for doing so. Maybe it doesnโt sound weird to you, but it kind of is when you consider that Iโm a blogger, author, and podcaster. Also, this is quite a radical change considering I had accounts on the main social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin, Pinterest. I even had two accounts on Instagram and three pages on Facebook. Why so many platforms and accounts? Well, I used Pinterest for my blog, YouTube for my podcast, Facebook and Instagram for my author pages and blog pages, Twitter for connecting…

I Went Off Technology For Three Days And Here’s What I Learnt
I decided to do an experiment: go off technology for three days. Why? You might be asking. Well, I’m writing a book on slow living for Christian women, and I wanted to see what going off the grid would do to me. Before I share what happened, just a quick disclaimer. During my three-days off technology, I still used my washing-machine, hoover and hair dryer. When I say I went on a technology fast, what I mean is that I didn’t use my TV, phone, and laptop. Basically, I had three days without emails, social media, phone calls, TV series, online lessons (I’m an online English teacher) and blog/podcast work.…

How To Live Simply As A Family Of Five
Ok, so we’re a family of five and we live simply when compared to most families in the West. What does that mean in our case? How do we do it? We’re not superheroes. We’ve simply learnt to live with and adapt to what we have. So, here goes how we live with each one of these “limitations”, which actually end up being blessings. ๐ How To Live Simply As A Family Of Five 1. Live simply with one car To be honest, we’ve only ever had one car as a married couple, so when the kids came along, we learnt how to live with that. How do we do…

I Gave Up Social Media For 30 Days And Here’s What I Learnt
Okay, so today I’m sharing with you my authentic experience of reducing social media for 30 days. This is not a “magical pill” kind of post: I did this and magically everything went well in my life. No, I still experienced problems (just like everyone else since the fall) and I still experienced pressures, bad days and tiredness. Yet, I also experienced significant benefits, and it is those that I will share with you today. Not because I think social media is evil in itself, but because I think it’s designed a certain way. And although it can be used redemptively, we need to be aware of the dangers, so…

“What Kind Of Blogger Are You?” – I’m Glad You Asked
Today I’m answering this question, because… One – I feel that sometimes there are misconceptions and stereotypes about bloggers and what they do, and Two – I don’t see my primary role to be that of a blogger, but I do blog so it’s important I explain what I do and why I do it. So.. I’m a blogger because I have and write for a blog, but I don’t consider blogging as one of my primary roles. I prefer to call myself a writer. And the reason for that is because even though I write blog posts on a regular basis (twice a week to be exact) and I…

I Started Designing Journals
So, I started designing journals the other week. My husband gave me the idea initially, and I took it on because I realized it was yet another way to create something that would spread the core message of Unique Mums. Is it my natural gifting or training? No! But I’m enjoying it and learning a new skill! You see, for me, Unique Mums isn’t just a little blog for me to share my experiences and some homemaking tips. Unique Mums is part of my creative business. While it’s true that I provide a lot of practical information about homemaking and motherhood, within my Faith content – whether books, blog posts,…

Exciting News!
Ok, so this is a personal post, but I couldn’t but share it on my blog. I’m publishing a book! I mean a big one, that’s also going to be in print! Now the funny thing about this book is that it’s been in the works for over a year. In fact, I started writing it way before the Beautiful Truth Devotional. So this is the timeline: ๐บ I started writing it in May, 2020 ๐บ I finished it in May, 2021 ๐บ I got it proofread in June, 2021 ๐บ I waited for God’s direction on how to launch it until August, 2021 And now I have enough information…

Dictator Or Trainer?
Guest blog – Jen Weaver Donโt know about you, but as a mother of two growing teenagers and one almost teenager, I am in the constant mode of trying to play catch up with them. When they were younger I remember trying to literally catch with them as they ran through the house, yard, parks, any space that they inhabited. Now I am constantly playing catch up to where they are emotionally as they embrace their growing independence while discovering their voice and place in this world. Pathways My middle child is now a 15-year-old boy and in the past few months, he has discovered a passion for rock climbing.…
