Let Us Not Grow Weary Of Doing Good

From The Purposeful Work Devotional Series

Today I’m sharing devotion number one in the Purposeful Work Devotional Series: Let Us Not Grow Weary Of Doing Good. This devotion is about persisting in doing good work, without giving up.

Let Us Not Grow Weary Of Doing Good – S6 E1

Focus verse

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Devotion

It’s so hard to keep working when we see no fruit.

I speak from experience. I often spend hours a day creating content, and often I see no fruit of my labour. Occasionally, someone will reach out to say that what I shared blessed them, but more often than not, I write, speak, and share without one word of feedback.

I don’t mean to complain, but to tell you that though I don’t get to see that fruit now, I believe what I’m doing is God’s will, and so I persist in it, knowing full well that one day I will reap fruit. Because God’s word promises it.

And as Christian mamas, it can seem the same way. We pour so much time into our children, we pray, teach them God’s word, give them testimonies, and sometimes we see nothing. Zilch!

Yet, God calls us to persist in raising children to be disciples of Jesus. And He promises we will reap fruit, if we do not give up.

So mama, keep praying, keep persisting in teaching your children the truth. Don’t give up!

Questions for reflection

  • How does today’s verse help you persist in doing God’s will?
  • How can you encourage other Christian mothers in persisting in God’s will for them, just like you too have been encouraged today?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for Your promise that I will reap fruit, if I persist in doing Your Good will. Help me Lord, when I feel weak. Strengthen me, I pray. May Your Spirit give me the power to keep going, even when I see no fruit. Help me to keep following Your will, and help me encourage others to do the same. Lord, I pray again for my children. May they come to know You, the One true God. May they follow You, all the days of their lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
