I Can Do All Things

From The Purposeful Work Devotional Series

This is devotion number four in the Purposeful Work Devotional Series. Today’s devotion is about resting in God’s strength to do His will.

I Can Do All Things – S6 E4

Focus verse

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13

Devotion

It’s interesting to note that when Paul was imprisoned, he didn’t stop working in God’s Kingdom. Even though Paul went through isolation, discomfort, and pain in prison, he found strength in God to fulfil the work the Father had given Him to do: strengthen and encourage the church.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul doesn’t brood over his circumstances, neither does he ignore them. He mentions them in the context of encouraging the church, and he also deals with other matters to help His brothers and sisters in the church.

His letters show one thing clearly: Paul didn’t give up working in God’s kingdom. No matter what the circumstances. Why? Because he found his strength in God.

So, for us as mothers, we too need to persevere in putting God’s kingdom first. No matter what the circumstances. No matter if there’s struggle or strife. But we won’t be able to do so in our own strength. We can only do so in Christ, who strengthens us.

Questions for reflection

  • How can you pursue God’s Kingdom first in your life?
  • Think about the times when you feel like giving up in pursuing God’s will. What do you focus on then? What can you focus on instead?

Prayer

Lord, I pray I would do Your will and pursue Your kingdom first. I can’t do it in my own strength. I often feel like giving up when the rubber meets the road. Please enable me, Lord, to carry out Your will. Give me the strength to put You first, no matter what the circumstances. Thank You, Lord, that You are good, and I can trust in You. Amen.
