My Healthy Eating Plan That Allows Me To Eat Brownies

Some people see me as a healthy eating guru, others know my love for all things chocolate, but the truth is I have had many ups and downs regarding my diet throughout my adult life.

I’ve gone through seasons in life of eating healthier food and other seasons of just eating whatever.

I mean I’ve always been one to include veggies in the main meals, and I’ve always enjoyed eating nuts and seeds, but in my not-so-healthy diet days I would also eat loads of bread, pasta, biscuits, and salty and sweet snacks in front of the TV.

A few months ago though, my husband and I felt challenged by some friends of ours who went on a keto diet and said they were feeling great and had lost quite a bit of weight.

Now the keto diet wasn’t one we wanted to do for several reasons.

However, we did decide to go back to a general low-carb diet, which we had done once before.

Low-carb Diet

What this means for us is that we cut out high-carb foods like wheat, rye, oats, corn, rice and higher starch vegetables such as white potatoes. Also, we cut out alcohol and sugar (hello erythritol!).

The only higher-carb foods we do eat are sweet potatoes, quinoa, legumes, like beans and lentils, and cassava. The reason why we have these is that they have amazing health benefits.

You see, the whole thing about this diet isn’t just that we want to be slimmer, it’s that we want to gain energy and health.

We want to be good stewards of the body we were given.

Yes, there are a few cons to the low-carb diet, but the benefits outweigh the setbacks.

I especially love the fact that I can eat chocolate! Yes, you read that correctly. Dark chocolate made with 85% cocoa solids so that the sugar level is low. And guess what? I love it.

Not only that, but I can eat brownies!! If that’s not a diet bonus, I don’t know what is!!

My husband and I also enjoy lots of healthy proteins, vegetables, nuts and seeds, beans and lentils and some dairy.

It really isn’t a hard diet to follow.
