7 Brilliant Mum Hacks That Make Life So Much Easier

Mum hacks are a thing, right?

I guess because motherhood sometimes feels like a circus act where you’re juggling ten thousand things, trying your hardest not to let any fall! 😂

As a mum of three, I’m always on the lookout for mum hacks to help me be more efficient with my resources and time.

With that in mind, today I thought I would share with you some of my favourite mum hacks.

1. Carry baby wipes with you everywhere!

From cleaning sticky fingers, to using them to clean the bathroom quickly, baby wipes are a Godsend. They even work to quickly take stains out of clothes or trainers, should you find them on your way out of the door.

2. Create a cleaning routine

Having a cleaning routine – whether you do the bulk of the cleaning yourself or assign it elsewhere – means that you can organise what needs to be done in order of priority.

Not only that, but you’ll be more efficient in your cleaning tasks because you won’t repeat needless jobs, and you’ll get around to the deep cleaning, once scheduled nicely in your cleaning routine.

3. Make the most of bath time

Brush your kids’ teeth in the bath. It means their pyjamas won’t get stained with toothpaste!

You can also use up the time when your kids are in the bath to clean the bathroom, or paint your nails! 🙂

4. Meal plan

Creating a meal plan for a week, two weeks or even a month to have on rotation can really help you organize your shopping and meal prep.

At the moment I have a monthly meal plan, which we have on rotation and it really makes online grocery shopping a lot easier.

5. Make the most of your kids eating times

When your kids are having their meals (if they eat at different times from you) or snacks, make the most of that pocket of time to wash dishes, clean the fridge or put a load of washing on. Basically, anything you can do nearby so you can be around if they need help.

Our kids eat dinner with us, but when they’re eating breakfast, I tend to use that time to get ahead with cleaning the fridge or the cutlery tray on kitchen cleaning day, or clean the little WC or entrance hall, which are right off the kitchen.

6. Kitchen prep

Unload the dishwasher and lay the table for breakfast on school nights, so that school mornings are faster and more efficient.

I learnt about this hack a couple of months ago, and I’ve never looked back! It’s so good to start the morning with a clean kitchen. I even place my tea cup ready near the kettle! 😂

7. School night prep

Lay out your kids’ clothes for the next day or get them to do it. Prepare lunch bags while preparing dinner too. The more things you have ready in the morning, the less stressful your mornings will be!

My kids tend to wake-up at around 8.00, and we have to leave the house at 8.45 so having everything ready the night before is essential if I need to get on with the level 1 jobs while the kids are getting dressed and brushing their teeth after breakfast.
