5 Tips On How To Clean A Window Without Streaks
Today I’m sharing some great tips on how to clean a window without making streaks because sometimes it seems that streaks just seem to linger no matter what we do.
So today I’m here to help you and I’m going to share my tried and tested methods on how to clean a window without streaks.
The best thing about these methods and products is that they’re easy, cheap, and effective, which is a must if you’re a homemaker.
So let’s take a look at a couple of tips that will help you not only clean a window without streaks but also create sparkling beauty!
Let’s dig in.
How to Clean a Window Without Streaks – Deep Clean
Before you do anything else, let me make one thing clear. The reason windows get streaky is because of product buildup.
So, before you clean your windows for maintenance, you will need to remove the leftover products which have built up over time.
To do this, make a solution of two cups of water, ½ teaspoon of dishwasher liquid (Fairy is one of the best), and ¼ cup of white vinegar and follow the window cleaning method:
1. Dust windows
This step is nearly always overlooked but it’s really important. Before you do anything else, make sure you remove dust from the windows with some good-quality microfiber cloths.
2. Spray with vinegar solution
Get the solution you made earlier, spray the window and then let the solution sit for a couple of minutes
3. Use a Squeegee
Get a Squeegee and use it to clean off the vinegar solution. Wipe the blade after every downward stroke so as not to spread any dirt.
4. Wipe with a microfiber cloth
Finally, get out a clean microfiber cloth and dry the windows.
5. Rinse off
If after doing all the above, you still see some streaks, rinse your windows with clean water, and then dry them again with a microfiber cloth.
How to Clean a Window Without Streaks – Maintenance
1. Use microfiber cloths
If you don’t have any, go and buy some right now. Seriously! These are a game-changer.
With millions of fibers, microfiber lifts and holds dirt, bacteria, grime, and liquids. These fibers include both positive-charged polyester fibers and negative-charged nylon fibers that actually pull up whatever is on the surface you’re cleaning.
This makes them ideal for cleaning windows without making streaks.
2. Make a vinegar solution
Mix one cup of white vinegar (distilled is best) with one cup of hot water in a spray bottle, then mix. The warm water will help to remove grime.
3. Follow a method
What we use to clean windows is important, but I would argue that the method is just as important.
So just as the deep clean method above:
1. Dust windows
Before you do anything else, make sure you remove dust from the windows with some good-quality microfiber cloths.
2. Spray with vinegar and water solution
Spray the windows with the solution in tip 2 and let it sit for a couple of minutes
3. Use a Squeegee
Get a Squeegee and use it to clean off the solution. Wipe the blade after every downward stroke so as not to spread any dirt.
4. Wipe with a microfiber cloth
Finally, get out a clean microfiber cloth and dry the windows.
Conclusion
Usually, streaks on windows are due to product build-up so I recommend you do a deep clean to remove all leftover products. To do a deep clean, dust windows, spray with a vinegar solution, use a squeegee, wipe with a microfibre cloth, and finally rinse off.
